Photographing high school senior guys is very different than photographing senior girls. Almost the exact opposite, in fact. Many guys are there because their mothers made them, and could care less about their senior portraits and / or what they look like in them.

Wyatt is shy about smiling for the camera, but lucky for him he has a great somewhat serious face, which happens to work well for the more athletic shots we did with his football and hockey jerseys.

I always tell my high school clients that the more you are invested in your pictures and willing to participate and have fun, the better the outcome, and that couldn't have been more true than with Wyatt's photos. We got some really cool stuff, and I can't wait to share them with him.

Thanks, Wyatt!

Paige is one of the sweetest, kindest girls you'll ever meet. I've known her since she was in middle school, and she's always had this simple kindness that radiates from her. When you talk to her, it's hard not to smile back.

We had a great time photographing her for her senior portraits - she had a variety of different looks between her two sessions, all of which are a great reflection of her cute and bubbly self.

I love the buttery yumminess that is summer evening light. There's just so much a photographer can do with it, and it especially seems to work well with the lovely smiles of gorgeous little kids.

It's always fun to meet high school seniors and find out what plans they are making for their futures after high school. Matthew is no exception. He has plans that are more solid than most in the fall of his senior year. He has already committed to the Air Force, with the ultimate goal of becoming a fire fighter like his father. He has already been a member of the Maple Grove Fire Explorer program, and you can tell just by talking to him how much he loves it. I know his future will be bright, filled with hard work, dedication and commitment. What a guy!

The beauty of really good friends is that their dreams becomes yours.

Sara and I have been friends since our oldest children were infants, and she is not only one of my most favorite people, but I am one of her biggest fans.

Sara is a writer. It's not always been her profession, but in her heart and soul, she is a writer. She's had big scary dreams for her craft, and I so admire that she has never given up.

I've done head shots for her before, but this session is a very special one, because these head shots are for her young adult fiction book that will be released (in hard cover, no less) in May 2017.

Now that her dream of being published is about to be realized, I hope she'll come up with new, bigger dreams for her and her writing. I, for one, will be waiting to celebrate with her when she realizes those, too.
